Privacy Policy

Effective July 7, 2026 · Applies to the PawPawCare app and this website

PawPawCare exists to keep your pets' health organized — not to make a business out of your data. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, and what we will never do with it.

What we collect

  • Your account — name, email address, and a password (stored only as a secure hash; we can't read it).
  • Your pets' records — the profiles, vaccinations, medications, weights, expenses, appointments, notes, photos, and documents you add. This is your data; we store it to show it back to you and the people you invite.
  • Community content — posts, comments, and lost-pet reports you choose to publish are visible to other PawPawCare users.
  • Device information for reminders — a push-notification token, so reminders can reach your phone.
  • Usage analytics — which screens and features are used, collected through PostHog to help us improve the app. Analytics events carry feature names, not your pets' medical details.
  • Waitlist email — if you join the waitlist on this site, we store your email (via Netlify Forms) solely to send your invite.

How we use it

To run the product: syncing your records across devices, sending the reminders you set, powering the community feed, and understanding — in aggregate — which features are worth improving. That's the whole list.

AI record scanning

When you scan a vet document, the image is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to extract details like vaccine names and dosages. The results come straight back to you for review — nothing is saved to your pet's file until you approve it, and your documents are not used to train AI models.

Sharing — always your call

  • Vet share links and caretaker pages exist only when you create them. They are read-only, expire automatically on the schedule you pick, and you can revoke them at any time.
  • Family sharing shows a pet's records only to people you explicitly invite.
  • We never sell your data. No data brokers, no advertising networks, no exceptions.

Services we rely on

A small set of processors help us run PawPawCare: Expo (app infrastructure and push-notification delivery), PostHog (usage analytics), Anthropic (AI document extraction, only when you scan), and Netlify (this website and its waitlist form). Each receives only what its job requires.

Security

Data moves over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Passwords are hashed, sessions use short-lived tokens, and share links are signed and time-limited.

Deleting your data

Email us and we'll delete your account and every record attached to it. Waitlist emails are deleted on request or once invites have gone out.

Children

PawPawCare is for pet owners and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll say so in the app and update the date at the top of this page.
